Kate Spade Roundup

I’ve come to quite like Kate Spade, because how do you not like a designer who believes that “everything is better with a touch of whimsy and a dash of delight”? In fashion terms it means Kate Spade does lots of bright colors, stripes, ribbons, polka dots and whatnot, all of which I love, and these are my current likes from the Kate Spade Online Store:

Glori heels, available for purchase here. $325

These are the Kate Spade Glori shoes, and I think they’re extremely aptly named because I swear I saw these and thought, “Oh, Glory…!” I know this is the 3rd peeptoe platform heel I’ve shown you in a row, after the Nicholas Kirkwood and Forever 21 pairs (which just goes to show how peeptoe platforms can look so different!), but this shade of blue satin alone makes this shoe worthy of attention. These have a 4″ heel, and the structured bow, delicate T-bar and entwined ankle strap make this a very feminine, classy shoe.

Giada slingbacks, available for purchase here. $175

This Giada slingback is probably my favorite pick from the Kate Spade website, because I absolutely love the combination of velvet, bows and crystals on a shoe. I feel like everyone has been doing shoes with a smattering of crystals on them since D&G’s suede Swarovskis in 2009, but I love shiny things so I’m not complaining! These Kate Spade shoes have a 4″ satin heel, with a sprinkling of crystals over the plush velvet upper. As you can see in the side view, the upper also has a very nice scalloped trim, and the bow at the toes is the perfect finishing touch! These are currently on sale for $175, down from $350 too, so if you like them get them while they’re still around!

Randi boots, available for purchase here. $125

If you’re the type of girl who isn’t going to let rain and puddles stop you from looking good (and assuming you like pink!) then these Randi boots are perfect. Kate Spade calls this shade “lipstick pink”, and although I’m not likely to ever buy lipstick in this shade I would be very likely to wear boots like this out! Despite being made of rubber, these boots look better than a lot of other boots currently out there walking the streets, and the 2″ heel and puddle-ready rubber ribbon will brighten up any gloomy rainy day!

Wish wedges, available for purchase here. $225

These are Kate Spade’s Wish wedges, and the only reason I can think of is that they make me wish Summer were here! I absolutely love candy cane stripes, even though / especially because these are done in pink and white! These are pink shoes with a bow on them, so I don’t really need to say anymore do I?

Earmuffs and iPhone cases I thought were cute 🙂 Kate Spade also offers free ground shipping for all orders, so go take a look 😉

Architect Barbie

Mattel Image from OBlog

At the recent New York City Toy Fair, Mattel unveiled their newest Barbie under their I Can Be line to be none other than Architect Barbie! The I Can Be line was launched in 2001, and allows the public to vote for Barbie’s next career. Barbie has been around for 50 years, and despite having been an astronaut, ballroom dancer, McDonald’s worker, Princess and whole host of other things, has never been an architect before! I love her cropped black jacket, no-nonsense boots, side ponytail and oversized eyeglasses, with just enough pink to keep her trademark Barbie look! Far be it for me to judge Barbie’s fashion though, and being an Architecture student myself I thought I’d share this with you all 🙂

Urban Decay Naked Palette back up on urbandecay.com!

The Urban Decay Naked palette is finally back up on the UD website! The new palette includes an eyeshadow brush instead of the double-ended 24/7 eyeliner, and is $4 more expensive at $48. As you can see from the product photo, Urban Decay claims they changed it because they couldn’t make enough 24/7 pencils, and I’ve also heard rumors that UD had problems with the supplier of the chocolate velvet cloth. Personally I think this is a load of bull, because UD must have made a bajillion 24/7 pencils recently just for sales of the 15-year Anniversary 24/7 Pencil set alone. And isn’t it harder to make a brush than a pencil? Whatever the reason for the change though, the Naked palette is still a great deal, and some people would definitely prefer having a brush included with the palette.

Forever 21 Nude Peeptoe Slingbacks

Forever 21 have called these the 70s Gal Leatherette Shoes, because they’re leatherette slingbacks with an antique finish buckle. Somehow I’m not really getting the 70s feel from them, but they’re quite a nice pair of shoes regardless! The 1″ platform and 5″ heel are made of cork, and blend nicely with the leatherette upper. Leather and cork are an interesting combination, and in this case I think it works. This would be a great Spring / Summer shoe, and the neutral color is easy to match.

I’ve been looking for a good pair of nude shoes (I can’t believe I don’t have a pair yet!) but it’s been so difficult to find the perfect, leg-lengthening shade of nude on a comfy shoe. I’ll have to check these out at a Forever 21 store, but if you want to buy these online they’re $23.80 and you can click here. Also available in brown.

Nicholas Kirkwood Pink Patent Platform Slingbacks

Oh my GOD these shoes are beautiful. I saw these today on Shoeperwoman, and I don’t generally like to blog about a pair of shoes after seeing them on a different blog, but damn these shoes are fine!! These 13.5cm high stunners are pink patent leather slingbacks, featuring the iconic Nicholas Kirkwood heel and platform. While the Kirkwood heel and platform in my opinion usually makes a shoe look more elegant, the way they curve here, combined with that gorgeous pop of pink make this a really cute shoe. I’m pretty much in love, if only love didn’t cost about £455…
